Joseph D. Larson became a partner at Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz in 2002 as a member of the Antitrust Department. He provides critical assessment and counsel to merger and acquisition clients with respect to United States antitrust matters. Mr. Larson also is familiar with European, South American, Canadian and Asian antitrust standards. He regularly counsels corporations through a wide range of matters, covering pre-merger filings through antitrust challenges, and represents clients before the United States Department of Justice Antitrust Division, the Federal Trade Commission, the Federal Reserve Board, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the Department of Defense. His expertise spans diverse industries, including electric and gas utilities, software, Internet, consumer products, defense, petroleum, and banking.

As a panelist at the Workshop on Best Practices for Merger Investigations, Mr. Larson advised the Federal Trade Commission about policy standards that would streamline the antitrust review process. Mr. Larson was a featured panelist at the International Dimensions of Competition Law of 2002 in Toronto and provided the annual antitrust review for the Southeastern Corporate Law Institute in 2001.

Mr. Larson received a B.A. in 1990 from St. Johns College and a J.D., magna cum laude, in 1994 from Harvard Law School. He is a member of the American Bar Association.
